The "Wildflower" pattern, produced from 1977 to 1984. A fairly common pattern, or at least it seems that way to me.
My mom had one of the "Counter Saver" with this print down in the bottom right hand corner. She use to roll out her pie dough on it all the time. Sadly, they always seem to be chipped or broken when you find them in a thrift store.

I bought my mom the roasting pan (I believe it was), as a gift (probably around the same time I bought my first pieces of corningware, nearly 30 yrs ago, if memory serves correctly). I adored the print on it (Wildflower). Sadly, a few years ago, just as my parents arrived back at their home with it (from a previous visit when she'd baked us a cake in it), she dropped it in their driveway when she got out of their vehicle & it did break. :( It was the only piece we ever had in that pattern & I was gutted when I learned of it (I thought it was so pretty). :( That same year for Christmas, I bought her a green glass Pyrex (or maybe Anchor Hocking) oblong cake pan to replace it, & funnily enough, she felt so bad about breaking the one I'd given her before, that she too, bought me the same glass one for Christmas that year, but in blue! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think this flower pattern looks great on this. Very bright and looks really decent. A little designing always looks better than simple crockery .
ReplyDeleteA bit off subject but I was curious about the SOL pattern. Has anyone else noticed the, I will call them ghost numbers in the print? They are placed randomly in the pattern with an underscore. I've noticed it in all of my SOL items, they are 17,22 underscored. You have to look really close at just the right angle and the right light to see them. I'm sorry but I don't know where else to post or ask or how to start a blog myself or I would have done that so not trying to hijack this one here. Maybe somebody can point me in the right direction or has the answer for this. I can't figure out how to post any pictures but if someone would like to email me that would be fine.
