There seems to be some confusion out there about replacement cords for Electromatic items. Hopefully this post will shed some light on the subject. I am going to focus primarily on Electromatic Percolators, however, cord replacement on the P-54 Warming Tray will be included as well. But first, it is imparative that you know which percolator model you have, for not all cords are created equal.
There are 4 models of Electromatic percolator (2 of which are basically the same, just different cup sizes). You must MUST MUST know which one you have. I cannot stress this enough... Percolators usually are not marked with their model numbers, but there is a simple way to determine your immersible heater module. Look at the top.
P-80-EP/P-6-EP - P-23-EP - E-1210
This is the top to the P-13-EP (Trefoil) P-23-EP (Cornflower) and W-23-EP (Wheat) percolator. There is a black plastic version with no chrome, but the shape is unique - that is the important part. Other patterns show up in this model, but they are generally designated as P-23-EPs (Ducks being one of them)
This heater module takes a standard appliance cord that you can purchase at the hardware store (#30123) for about $3.99.
This heater module is the ONLY one that will take that cord. NONE of the other 3 models can use this cord as a replacement.
Now let's take a look at those other modules...........
This is the P-80-EP Heater Module (the P-6-EP module looks the same, just a little smaller). This module was also used for the P-480-EP & P-406-EP (Platinum Filigree) and the W-80-EP & W-6-EP (Wheat) as well as the P-280-EP & P-206-EP (All White). Other patterns appear in this model of percolator as well, though they are generally just P-80-EPs or P-6-EPs. (Green Wheat, Morning Glory, Early American, Floral Bouquet, Avocado Medallion and, of course, Cornflower)
This is the E-1210 Heater module. All patterns of this percolator are designated as E-1210. (Spice o' Life, Country Festival, Floral Bouquet, Blue Medallion)
I will type it again..... These 3 percolator models (P-80-EP, P-6-EP and E-1210) will not work with the same appliance cord (30123) that can be used on the P-23-EP models. These 3 models have a proprietary plug that used a special cord. (P-6-HC/E-1210-HC)
They can be found on eBay, ranging in price anywhere from $20.00 to $42.00, depending on how money hungry the seller is.
Incidentally, the the prong spacing is the same as that of the P-54 Warming Tray, thus cords are swap-able between these items.
Where is your Corning Ware??

I began reading this post with high hopes only to have them dashed. Alas! The warming tray has the proprietary plug! Off to E-bay I go...
ReplyDeleteCorning ware has always been a trustable company to look forward to. And replacing the cords have been a big issue, but they have explained so clearly that every model has its own specific cord.Thankyou!
ReplyDeleteAwesome contribution and information.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I have a question, not related to the cords. So, several people are having a debate with a guy on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteHere's the question: Are ANY Corningware electric percolators enameled steel? Or, are they ALL Pyroceram? The majority of us believe Pyroceram. His is a Blue Corn flower pattern. All of mine, electric and stovetop are, I believe Pyroceram.
Can you help us out please?
Thank you!!!
The vast majority of Corning Ware percolators were made of Pyroceram... There were 4 electromatic models released that had a significant amount of plastic parts... of those 4, two of them still had Pyroceram pots while the other two had glass pots.. the only enameled steel pieces I am aware of that bare the "Corning Ware" name are the 90s Tea Kettles.. They come in late patterns like Callaway, Summer Blush and Sunsations.
DeleteThank you!! This YouTube guy is convinced his pot is enameled steel. I guess he'll only be convinced if it ever
Delete(hopefully not) breaks.
I really enjoy the information on this site.
Thanks again!!
I am a order lady And I am still und unsure of what cord to order for my 10C Corning Ware Percolator coffee pot,I have ordered 2 different ones and neither one fit. I didn’t nohow so I gave them away . Please help. This is what I see. 120 VAC only621W Corning Ware P-80.
DeleteThank you so much for this article it was very helpful! This whole website is helpful! I purchased a Spice O’ Life E-1210 And because of this information I found I could use the cords from my P-54 warming trays. It worked beautifully. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI have to thank you so much for your wonderful, detailed information on this website. I found a Corningware electric percolator with the 1970 floral pattern at the thrift shop this weekend, noticing it initially for its cute vintage print. In my haste, I assumed it must be a stovetop percolator, and later realized the thing required a cord but did not come with one!
ReplyDeleteThis very corner of your site is an enormous help. Plus, I am learning so much about these vintage kitchen appliances just from an impromptu thrift shop purchase... I am not a Corningware collector or anything. So thank you!
Thank you so much for the information.
ReplyDeleteI have a question I cannot find the chord to mine. Can I just use it on the stove top?
ReplyDeleteI am assuming the frustration is being brought on by the fact that you have a proprietary percolator (P-80-EP, P-6-EP or E-1210) You can use it on the stove, but you will need a different pump and stem assembly for it to function as a stovetop percolator.... Classic Kitchens & More still carries the proprietary cords on their site. http://classickitchensandmore.com/corning-coffee-pots-percs-c-38/brand-new-corning-ware-electromatic-coffee-pot-perc-power-cord-p-7307.html
Deletethey are not available any longer at this site. The new ones available now in 2020/2021 are crap! they melt within the first week we have it. It worked for 5 days then the end melted and side buckled. Cheap 2 part plastic around prongs with metal screw & nut in center. Pure garbage. Im sure its chinese crap.
DeleteAm I correct that you are saying a P-80 cord and a e-1210 cord will fit on a P-80 model?
ReplyDeleteYes, the cords from both of these pots are interchangeable.. there is a slight difference in the molded plastic housing of the P-6-HC and the E-1210-HC; but they both fit as the connection prongs on the element assembly are the same.
DeleteI have a question about the stem, basket and cover for the P-23-EP. (I identified this as what I have from your photos!)
ReplyDeleteWould you know what other models have the SAME stem, basket and cover?
The P- 80-EP is too long for the P-23-EP.
Thank you!
Not sure about other models but the stem and basket measure 7-5/8” tall on my P-23-EP pot. That may help in your search for the correct one.
ReplyDeleteMy hotplate has 3 prongs, where do I get a replacement cord?
ReplyDeleteHi I am hoping you can steer me in the right direction. I have an electromatic range e-1310 but no cord. Any thoughts wheere I might find one. EBay searches are fruitless same with amazon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this very informative blog.
You should be able to find P-6-HC and E-1210-HC on ebay. Most sellers don't know the numbers so looked for C"Coffee cord" or "electromatic cord"
DeleteLooking for the cord for the p-80 percolator.Any suggestions where I can find it
ReplyDeleteeBay is your best bet
DeleteHelp my immersible warming tray won't heat up.
ReplyDeleteI have the cornflower blue electric percolator, 10
Cup with black plastic trivet and the cord works great with that. The same cord fits perfectly for the immersible warming tray however it just doesn't warm up. Any suggestions or ideas how to fix tray?
Please and thank you
That means there is something wrong with the ribbon element in the tray... I am not a small appliance electrician, so I have no idea how to repair a broken element. Sorry.
DeleteWill the p-23 heating element fit into a p-80 pot? I don't need the percolator to fit, just the heating element.
ReplyDeleteSadly,no. The elements are not interchangeable between the different pot models.
DeleteMerry Christmas morning.... thank God I didn't leave the kitchen as my plug to my P80 electric pot started smoking at the heating element not the wall outlet. Yesterday I noticed the light did not come on when it finished percolating and the coffee was warm not hoy. And the day the light blinked when pouring a cup of coffee as if the cord was not fulled plugged in, but it was. So yesterday I actually started looking on Ebay for a replacement element BUT and now clearly need a cord. Do you think the cord was the cause or the element??? Luckily .... lol I had another Corningware electric percolator with a different pattern I bought for a friend that hadn't been deliverex yet ☺️ so I could still have coffee this morning.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible that the cord could be the culprit, but it really sounds like the element went out.
DeleteSo which cord works on the P-57 warming tray?
ReplyDeleteIs the basket size the same for the e-1210 as for the p-80? I JUST GOT the e-1210 percolator and drove 20 miles in a snowstorm to get it. Got it home: NO COVER ON THE BASKET. I'm sure the lady who GAVE me this percolator (which is why I drove in the snow to get it) doesn't have the basket top, but I will check. I'm prepared to go on eBay to find it. So far, only p-80. Whatd'ya think? Same size? Thanks for knowing everything.
ReplyDeleteThe plug port on my percolator says 115 volt only and I'm pretty sure its the P-23-EP. I'm leery to buy the cord you've suggested as its a 125v. Are you sure its compatible
ReplyDeleteAs a general rule, the cord could be rated for slightly higher voltage, but not be a problem. You should be leery if it is rated over 200v, then the plug that goes in wall may need an adapter.
DeleteMy cord went out on my 6 cup coffee pot inside the heating element the number is T23. I looked on Ebay but no one shows me T23.
ReplyDeleteI looked inside the heating element and T23 is what I seen. I looked on ebay nothing seen to fit
ReplyDeletewill the P-23-ep heating element fit into the handle of the Spice of life e-1210 percolator?
ReplyDeleteReason I ask - My wife loves her "E-1210 Spice of life" percolator that matches my mothers set & that we have added to over the last 8+ years. We bought our E-1210 3 yrs ago. Had no cord we could find at the estate sale ...everything else intact including the countertop base under the pot. I did NOT at the time feel a search at the kitchen of estate for another hour or 2 was worth looking so we left. I THOUGHT ...stupid me that a common cord could replace it at hardware store. We bought a 6 ft replacement cord at that time (2017) online about $30 from dealer you mention above. worked for about 4 years before the cord melted on 2 different occasions about a year apart. 1st melting wasnt so bad just the very end of plastic at prong. This past time melted the same side of prong "oddly enough" & made it useless & lucky we had no fire.
JUST 1/2 wks ago ---I ordered new plug from the guy selling them as the "ONLY SOURCE" on amazon - & they are pure crap! 2 part snap together plastic that melted within first 6 days of daily use. The online comments had a few reviews saying the same thing but most were glorifying it.
So will the P-23-ep element fit into handle of my Spice of Life? Or would I need to buy a P-23-ep Percolator & swap out the metal rim at top with it's handle (cannibalize it) and add it onto the E-1210 percolator bottle? I am willing to do whatever needed so I don't have to go thru this ritual every few years but can just keep peace in my home with happy wife & her "perfect" percolated pot of coffee for 8 cups of coffee each day that gets her thru the day. She percolates it in morning then unplugs it then heats cups in microwave as she needs thru-out the day. PLEASE let me know your thoughts as "parts" for elements seem to be readily available as do percolators cheap for $20 +/- for "common" cord replacement for hardware store cords for $5.
BTW - I SOLVED the bottle of E-1210 falling off problem so common due to old crusty glue that stopped being effective 40 yrs ago & took apart the entire e-1210 top and metal & removed ALL old glue completely and cleaned up rim carefully then used BLACK P-6000 glue you can find at hardware or hobby stores. They now of course make it in clear & white too not available then. It still holds it firmly as it stays heat resistant yet flexible. Also we hold the base of pot with one hand and hot pad as we pour a cup of coffee. I imagine a silicone glove could also be used for same and even better grip on it.
THANK YOU for this! I have one of these from my grandparents, and as far as we can tell, it's never been used. It's still got a plastic disc in the bottom to protect the inside from the metal during shipping, and the instructions were still folded inside the grounds basket. The only thing missing was the cord. We were days from donating it to goodwill or throwing it out. Never dreamed we could find the correct information for a replacement. Now we can't wait to put it to use next time we have friends over!
